Standard LED Lights
Time and time again it's been said that LED bulbs are the Future of lighting. Well, we firmly believe that and definitely think the future is here. Standard LED lights are the most inexpensive and popular LED sets available, they come in a wide variety of bulb styles and colors to fit any need. From the traditional shape of a M5, C7, and C9 bulbs to the modern Concave wide angle bulbs there's pretty much every popular shape available for use.
Standard LED Christmas light strings usually have 35, 50, or 70 bulb counts on a single string. The power advantage of LED lights is where the real magic, standard sets use 80 to 90% less electricity! Not only that but they have a bulb life of over 100,000 hours! Now, take note that we have never actually burned a set that long because that's approximately 11 years. Another big plus to Christmas LED lights is the huge number of sets you can plug together. Mini lights usually allow around 3 sets to be plugged end to end. These sets are rated at 3 but we have successfully plugged up to 15 sets end to end with no problems! Now can we guarantee that work for all sets, no...it's more a hey have you tried this? Wink wink, nudge, nudge kind of thing.
The only real disadvantage of LED Christmas Lights are their up front cost, while a set of 100 mini lights can cost around the 6-8 dollar range, and LEDs of the same bulb count can be 20+ dollars. If you take into consideration the massive savings in electricity, the long bulb life, and easier installs they really do pay for them self in just a couple Christmas seasons. The bulbs rarely go out, they are molded plastic so they don't break from regular use. If you are tired of all the problems traditional Christmas light strings give you, try some LEDs...you'll be glad you did.
LED Screw In Bulbs
The first few seasons LED Christmas lights were in the market the biggest question was concerning replacements for strings you already had. Enter the screw in Retro-Fit LED Bulb! These bulbs are a direct replacement for the C7 and C9 bulbs you are used to using, no special adapters, no special power sources, just the same old wired sockets you've been using for years. You know how those old glass bulbs burn out and are easily broken...well these LED bulbs can last up to 70,000 hours and are made of heavy duty plastic. So try some, you'll fall in love and continue to use them year after year.
So you're probably wondering, "Why on earth would I want to spend so much on Christmas Lights?!"
Well there are a number of good reasons to make the switch.
- The Bulbs Don't Break! Their plastic shells will stand up to regular use for years.
- Vibrant Colors, LED bulbs don't fade because unlike glass bulbs the LEDs actually produce the color!
- Save Electricity, Standard C7 bulbs use 5 watts, C9 use 7, LED Retro Fit bulbs use .96 watts
- No Burnt Out Bulbs! Since LEDs have such a high burn time you won't have to worry about them burning out.
Commercial LED Lights
Commercial LED Christmas lights are not too different from Standard LED sets, so if you have not read that products description you may want to go back and get familiar with them before moving on.
Commercial LED lights share almost all the same benefits of their standard counterparts but they are not limited to them. They have the same great bulb life, they used up to 80% less power, and they will just about outlast almost every other style of Christmas light on the market. Building on the great ideas that were put into standard sets Commercial LED strings really push the envelope, the biggest advantage of commercial are their ability to really connect! On most of the 25 bulb count strings you can connect up to 125 sets end to end and run them from one outlet. Now, these sets do require a special type of power adapter but that's a small price to pay for this great feature. These sets have a special screw in end to end connector, unlike a traditional light string with a normal male and female plug these sets have a water tight screw together adapter that has some great advantages of it's own. First, they are water proof, they won't corrode or get a bad connection from being out in the weather. Second, these are sets you want to use year around so the adapter won't just pull apart.
These sets come in a variety of styles much like the standards. All the traditional C6, C7, C9 bulb styles are there, along with the mini light inspired M5. There are also the G series which are round bulbs, these include the G12 and G25. Most all of these strings have 25 bulbs per string (some of the M5 sets do have a 70 bulb count option). Another huge plus of opting for LED Commercial Lights is their great hardware options. Besides the special power cord there are some really nice spacers and adapters available, spacers let you cover areas without using a lighted string which are really great for going across areas on the facade of your house. The adapters let you make sharp turns, split one wire into 2 or 3 or more, or even make a light curtain.
LED Lights may not be for everyone, but if you have a need for heavy duty lighting that will last season after season and you want to keep electric bill low there's really no better way to go!
